Product Details

Products Description

316L stainless plate is a stainless steel material with high corrosion resistance and high temperature strength. The chemical composition contains elements, such as chromium, nickel and molybdenum, which can resist the corrosion attack of chloride and sulfate, and has excellent wear resistance, heat resistance and welding performance. It is widely used in chemical industry, marine engineering, medical equipment, food processing, paper making, shipbuilding, construction and other fields. Its common specifications are thickness 0.3-100mm, width 1000-2000mm, length 2000-6000mm.

Cause of Corrosion

  • Dust containing other metal elements or attachments of heterogeneous metal particles are deposited on the surface of stainless steel. In humid air, the condensed water between the attachments and stainless steel connects the two into a micro-battery, triggering an electrochemical reaction , the protective film is damaged, which is called electrochemical corrosion.

  • Organic juices (such as vegetables, noodle soup, phlegm, etc.) adhere to the surface of stainless steel. In the presence of water and oxygen, organic acids will be formed, and the organic acids will corrode the metal surface for a long time.

  • The surface of stainless steel adheres to acid, alkali, and salt substances (such as alkaline water and lime water splashed on the wall for decoration), causing local corrosion. 4. In polluted air (such as an atmosphere containing a large amount of sulfide, carbon oxide, and nitrogen oxide), when it encounters condensed water, it will form liquid points of sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and acetic acid, causing chemical

Cause of Rust

When brown spots appear on the surface of stainless steel, people are surprised: "Stainless steel will not rust, and if it rusts, it is not stainless steel. It may be that there is something wrong with the quality of the steel." Misunderstanding. Stainless steel will rust under certain conditions.

Stainless steel has the ability to resist atmospheric oxidation, that is, it does not rust, and it also has the ability to resist corrosion in media containing acid, alkali and salt, that is, corrosion resistance. However, its corrosion resistance depends on the chemical properties of the steel itself. Composition, mutual state, use conditions and environmental medium type. For example, 304 has absolutely excellent corrosion resistance in a dry and clean atmosphere, but when it is moved to the seaside area, in sea fog containing a large amount of salt, It will rust soon, and 316 stainless steel is good. Therefore, it is not any kind of stainless steel that is corrosion-resistant and does not rust at any time.

Difference between 316L and 304 Stainless Plate

The two most widely used stainless steels is 304 and 316L (or corresponding to the German/European standard 1.4308, 1.4408), the main difference of chemical composition between 316L and 304 is that 316L contains Mo, and it is generally recognized that 316L has better corrosion resistance , more corrosion resistant than 304 in high temperature environment. Therefore, in high temperature environments, engineers generally choose parts made of 316L materials. But the so-called nothing is absolute, in the concentrated sulfuric acid environment, do not use 316L no matter how high the temperature is! Otherwise, there will be a big problem. Anyone who studies mechanics has learned threads, and remember that in order to prevent the threads from being seized at high temperatures, a dark solid lubricant needs to be applied: molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), from which 2 points are drawn The conclusion is not: [1] Mo is indeed a high temperature resistant substance . [2]: Molybdenum can easily react with high-valent sulfur ions to form sulfide. So there is no one kind of stainless steel that is super invincible and corrosion-resistant. In the final analysis, stainless steel is a piece of steel with more impurities (but these impurities are more corrosion-resistant than steel), and steel can react with other substances.

Application

Chemical equipment

It has good corrosion resistance and can be used in equipment for producing chemicals such as acids and alkalis.

Food industry

It can meets food hygiene requirements, and can be used to manufacture health care products, food processing equipment or barrels and other appliances.

Aerospace

Due to the good thermal stability of 316L stainless steel plate, it is used in high-tech fields such as spacecraft.

Medical equipmentIt is widely used in the manufacture of various medical equipment, such as surgical instruments, heart valves and other high-tech fields.

Construction

It has high strength, corrosion resistance and aesthetics, and is suitable for construction fields such as exterior wall decoration, escalators and elevators.
