What is Benin ECTN?
ECTN, or Electronic Cargo Tracking Note, is the certification document necessary for export to Benin. According to the national decree of Benin, any goods shipped to COTONOU port of Benin or transferred to other destinations via this port must apply for the electronic cargo tracking order BESC, which is called BORDEREAU DE SUIVI DE CARGAISON.
● The ECTN waiver certificate must be requested by the Charger BEFORE loading of cargo.
● All ECTN must be validated NO LATER THAN 5 DAYS AFTER voyage departed.
● Failing to submit the ECTN certificate, cargo cannot get custom clearance and returned back to the origin.

ECTN waiver for Benin can be issued with the following documents:
Bill of Lading – a Draft copy can be used for BESC issuance.
